The NJSIAA football championships could debut this year at the New Meadowlands Stadium and return to three college venues, including Rutgers Stadium, pending the approval of State Commissioner of Education Bret Schundler. NJSIAA Executive Director Steve Timko said within the next week he will ask Schundler, as permitted by state law, to charge more for all fall tournament championship events contested at independent venues. read more

JEFFERSON - Optimism abounds at Jefferson's football practice sessions. There are skill players, role players and stout linemen to help the Falcons through a brutal 2010 schedule. But there's no way to overlook it. Gavin McCarney is no longer quarterbacking the team. "Gavin's definitely hard to replace," Jefferson coach Joe Mattessich said. "It's like his contract ran out, like he's a free agent.
